There are many issues facing our community. These are our top priorities.
Creating Safer Streets
I am person who suffered a life-changing accident on a bicycle. My mother is in a wheelchair. I believe in creating safer sidewalks and roadways for pedestrians, motorized vehicles, and cyclists alike to feel that we are able to safely move around the city.
Senior Care and Accessibility
Abuse and Neglect - The National Center on Elder Abuse distinguishes between seven types of elder abuse. These include physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, financial/material exploitation, neglect, abandonment, and self-neglect. My parents have both experienced elder abuse. My mother, at 87 years old, was assaulted by her Home Health Aide and was hospitalized for over a week after being struck and left having to have a blood transfusion. Her caregiver was arrested and pled guilty. My father was also a victim of elder abuse in his late 80s. I fought to successfully have my father’s rights restored after being placed in guardianship. For those who fear their parents becoming victims of elder abuse, I can help identify the signs that abuse is happening.
Parks and Recreation
Parks are essential to all cities. Going to a neighborhood park helps our community ease stress, allowing kids to play and residents to meet neighbors. Besides offering recreation, they increase property value, protect cities from environmental impact, and reduce pollution.
Living a short distance from Central Park and other local parks in my neighborhood allows me to take a walk in the middle of the day to connect with nature. Whether I’m having a good or a bad day, parks are always something that brings joy.
